TUTORIAL

Year: 2013
Timeframe: 48 hours
Position: Game & Level Designer
System: Mac, with Unity
Responsibilities: Concepting, designing and developing the game mechanics, levels and level geometry from scratch. Testing and iterating towards a finalized game within 48 hours.
Skills/Software used: 3Ds Max for level geometry,  modelling and enemy animation.
Created content
: 8 levels, each with different uses of the mechanics, scaling difficulty, and different enemy animations.
Awards: Jury's First Prize at GGJ Site Breda, Gamescom 2014 exhibition, EGW GDC 2014 Showcase​
Notable accomplishments
  • Unique gameplay mechanics

  • Making levels with 3Ds Max was easy and fast

Learning points
  • Sometimes a game can be so experimental that it is difficult to explain to new players
  • Only haptic feedback without visual feedback is not engaging enough for long-term gameplay (30 minutes+)
  • The game could only run on a Mac with an Xbox 360 contoller, and with a Playstation move, making it not commercially viable
