ANIMATED COVER

There is a larger explanation on how the animated cover works in an article I wrote on Gamasutra. It was a featured post because of the high quality of its content.

Responsibilities: Creating the levels and animated cover from scratch using Hammer and HL2:EP2
Skills/Software used: Microsoft word for the documentation. Hammer for level editing. Source and HL2:EP2 for engine and assets.
Created content
: 4 levels, 2 with static cover and 2 with animated cover. 4 styles of animated cover. 

Notable accomplishments
  • Created 4 levels with animated and static cover on my own
  • Used a clean testing process where I was able to record and replay the testers' action in-game
  • Tested the levels with both experienced and unexperienced FPS players
  • Found very interesting data that can be used for testing in other genres of videogames
  • Able to continue this research in the future
Learning points
  • Used only 20 test subjects, which can not yet prove successful large scale implementation
  • Most test subjects were familiar with videogames in general, making the research as of yet only useful for a specific subset of the market
